YouthCARE is one of Western Australia's largest not-for-profit organisations. YouthCARE aims to create positive school communities, where students are empowered and encouraged to be the best they can be.  Each year YouthCARE Chaplains help thousands of students, staff and family members in Western Australian public-school communities by providing an essential social, emotional and mental health support service.

Reporting to the Training and Programs Co-ordinator, for day-to-day responsibilities, the Training and Programs Facilitator is responsible for supporting growth, impact and sustainable development in alignment with the strategic plan, mission and vision of YouthCARE.

This multifaceted position requires the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide quality training and support the implementation of new initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work under the guidance of the Training and Programs Coordinator to support the overall training strategy and objectives of the organisation.
  • TrainingDesign: Assist in developing and customising training materials and content in alignment with the program goals outlined by the Training and Programs Coordinator.
  • Delivery of Training: Conduct engaging training sessions, workshops, and seminars. Employ interactive methods to foster participation and create a positive learning environment, as directed by the coordinator.
  • Needs Assessment: Collaborate with the Training and Programs Coordinator and the Training Innovation Partnerships and Programs (TIPP) team to identify training needs and objectives. Utilise feedback from stakeholders to help assess skill gaps.
  • Participant Engagement: Facilitate interactive discussions, group activities, and exercises to enhance learning.Adapt training delivery methods to suit diverse learning styles as guided by the coordinator.
  • Feedback and Evaluation: Collect participant feedback on training effectiveness and present findings to theTraining and Programs Coordinator. Analyse data to assess learning outcomes and recommend improvements for future training sessions.
  • Support and Mentoring: Provide support to participants during and after training sessions. Mentor individuals in applying new skills in their work environment, contributing to the initiatives of the Training and Programs Coordinator.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, training methodologies, and best practices. Regularly communicate insights.

General

  • Perform other duties as directed by the TIPP.
  • Ability to support the Christian mission and vision of YouthCARE and must be actively engaged in the life of a Christian church and denomination that affirms the triune Godhead of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the performance of the organisation.

Essential

Meets the following qualifications requirements:

  • Certificate IV or above in Youth Work, Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care or Community Services, or a qualification listed in the Community Services Training Package:
  • The following Units ofCompetency must be contained in your qualification or be obtained separately:
    • CHCCCS016 Respond to client needs and
    • CHCMH001 Work with people with mental health issues
      (Contact YouthCARE if you don’t have these Units as they can assist you to obtain them at your Induction, if successful).
  • Or an equal or higher qualification in a relevant field,
  • Or an Equivalent qualification that is listed on, or consistent with, the requirements for membership of, or registration with, one of the following professional bodies:
    • Australian Psychology Board (APB),
    • Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW),
    • Teachers Registration Board WA (TRBWA),
    • Australian Counselling Association (ACA),
    • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NWBOA)
    • Ministry and Theology qualifications that meet the Denominational Registration of Ministry requirements.

Strongly desired Criteria

  • Willingness to do regional travel for delivery of training and programs.
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work within an educational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation of programs with all agesincluding adults, in small and large groups.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and the abilityto work effectively within a team and autonomously.
  • A demonstrated capacity to sensitively relate the Christian faith in asecular context while accepting and being sensitive to other people's views,values and beliefs, and the ability to work across Christian denominations,other faiths and cross-cultural contexts.
  • Demonstrated capacity to use the Microsoft Office® suite and performadministrative tasks with limited assistance. Also has the ability to collectstatistical data such as recording daily activities related to servicedelivery.
  • Demonstrated active engagement in the life of a Christian Church that isaligned with YouthCARE’s Statement of Faith.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check and NationalCoordinated Criminal History Check through the WA Department of Education –NOTE: this is NOT a National Police Clearance).
